As well as his freelance makeup work Davy also teaches at Revelations School of
Makeup in Stockport, England.
Set up 4yrs ago by Elaine Jones and himself it has gone from strength to strength.
Over the past 2yrs Davy has won an:
The Prosthetic Makeup Course is 4 weeks long.
During this time we develop your Prosthetic Makeup skillset with ever increasing
challenges which, is aimed at bringing you up to a level that is expected of you
when entering this exciting profession.
What do we teach on the Prosthetic Makeup Course?
We teach basic skills in:
- life casting
- sculpting
- mould making
- running of prosthetic materials and pieces
- application and colour techniques
When are the courses?
The Prosthetic Makeup Course is run three times a year.
If the demand is high enough we will accommodate for other courses at other times
of the year.

How much can I expect to pay?
That depends on whether you decide to do, the:
- Combined Media Makeup Course (15 weeks): £8342.50
- Prosthetic Makeup Course (4 weeks): £3055 (kit not inc)
We do strongly advise to become trained in all elements of makeup and hair
as there is a wider spectrum of work to pull on.
More skills = more choice = more calls for work :-)

Do I really need Makeup and Hair skills just to do Special Effects Makeup?
NO. But, there will be less choice of work for you.
TV is not dominated by monsters and special effects makeup. Standard drama
will be your bread & butter and will pay the mortgage!
Being able to cut a little hair, apply a little makeup, add a beard here and
there enabled Davy to work on:
When the heads of department see you are a good all rounder, the phone doesn’t
stop :-)
Do I come out with a qualification?
No. If you pass you receive a certificate from Davy. This will tell people
you have gained a certain standard in:
- life casting
- sculpting
- mould making
- running of prosthetic materials and pieces
- application and colour techniques
On completeion of the Prosthetic Makeup Course your journey will have only
just begun.
